Digital Cables

We believe IC cables are the most important cable in the system because they are critical for maintaining your system’s resolution, and they can also alter the tone and timbre of your system in major ways.

ZenWave’s new D4 S/PDIF digital cable is unique in that it uses a completely different design than others. Most S/PDIF cables are coax cables, while the ZenWave D4 uses a Litz design. At S/PDIF frequencies a properly designed litz-type cable outperforms a coax cable, and over the years many, many people have tested the D4 and found that this is true. In fact, I’ve never had a coax cable preferred over the ZenWave D4.

ZenWave’s new D4 AES/EBU cable is now available, and uses a similar Litz-type design as the D4 S/PDIF. Like S/PDIF cables are mostly coax design, most AES cables are twinax design, a coax with a twisted pair in the center, or STP design (shielded, twisted pair). This is the same design as a regular analog XLR cable but with geometry that provides a 110-ohm characteristic impedance. And like the S/PDIF, the ZenWave Litz design is superior.
